Protect the Instagram account, methods to improve its security

Instagram is increasingly used, there are millions of active accounts every day and the same content shared by users, its success is due to the immediacy of use and the fact that it is possible to share their emotions through photos and videos , content much appreciated by web lovers.

As with all web platforms, Instagram is also exposed to possible hacker attacks or by people intent on acquiring sensitive data and information to use them for illegal purposes.

For this reason we have decided to explain some methods to improve security and protect your Instagram account , these are measures that can make a real difference and make your profile inviolable.

1) TWO FACTOR AUTHENTICATION

Have you noticed any strange activity on your Instagram account? Do you think someone has entered the profile without your permission? In this case, the solution is to activate two-factor authentication which inserts a second form of authentication system after entering the password.

To activate this function, go to Settings> Two-factor authentication> Request security code.

Each time you try to log in to your Instagram account, a code will be sent to the phone number associated with the profile, without this you will not be able to log in.

2) MAKING PHOTOS ACCESSIBLE ONLY TO A FEW USERS

Whenever you publish a photo or video, anyone who is subscribed to Instagram is able to see it, this is because the social network has by default the ability to show the contents to anyone.

If you want to choose who to show your photos and videos to you have to make the Instagram account private, here’s how: Settings> Privacy Account> Private Account.

After activating this option, if a person wants to see your content they will first have to apply and you will decide whether to approve or not and welcome them among your followers.

3) HIDE THE ACTIVITY STATUS OF THE PROFILE

On Instagram it is possible to know when a person is connected on Instagram, you can see it by the presence of a small dot next to the friend’s photo by entering the Direct.

This way your followers can always know when you are online, but if you want to preserve your privacy you can deactivate the activity status like this: Settings> Activity Status and deactivate.

A tip: if you don’t want to let people know when you’re typing a message or using the camera, turn off chat as well.

4) MAKE REPORTING ON CONTENT THAT VIOLATES DECORATION AND REGULATION

On Instagram it may happen to run into annoying behavior or find people who send inappropriate content, in this case it is possible to act by making a report to the social network.

You can make a report by tapping the three dots icon under a post, a comment or even a Story.

Instagram will check the reported content and if it finds any violations, it will suspend the account.

5) LOCK AND REMOVE THE FOLLOWER

Another way to secure your Instagram account is to act directly on the followers who annoy you or who have attitudes that violate the regulation, you can act by blocking or removing them completely.

To act on followers, first go to the profile and choose the Block option and follow this path: Settings> Blocked accounts to see the blocked accounts, while for those disabled Settings> Accounts Disabled.

Also, if you no longer want to have a person among your Followers, just tap on the three dots icon next to their name and choose Remove.

6) CONTROL AND MANAGEMENT OF COMMENTS

You can manage the comments received under the contents and Stories, eliminating the annoying and inappropriate ones. Usually just click on the trash can icon next to the comment to permanently remove it.

If you want to disable comments under a specific post, just click on the three-dot icon and choose Disable comments; or, enter in Settings> Options related to comments , to further manage the various possibilities.

7) REMOVE TAGS FROM PHOTOS

Instagram tagged photos are also shown, but you can manually control which ones to show and which ones to remove.

To remove a tag on a photo just click on Photo options> More options> Remove me from post, also, you can decide whether to automatically hide them by going to Settings> Photos you are in too , or delete them.

8) MAKE PAYMENTS WITH SECURITY CODE

If you shop on Instagram you must enter your credit card details, if you want to protect yourself and prevent people from using it, you must enable the security method: Settings> Payments> Security and enter a 4-digit code that will be asked to confirm your purchase.

9) MANAGE ACCESS TO THIRD PARTY APPS

Many third party applications connect to Instagram, some of these can jeopardize privacy and steal personal data. To revoke access, you need to connect to Instagram from your PC and go to Settings> Authorized apps and remove access.

10) CHECK THE ORIGIN OF YOUR FOLLOWER

You have surely heard of fake Instagram accounts, but also of people who use profiles with incorrect information to behave incorrectly on social networks and steal important and personal information.
